WA: Magistrate made to resign after caught working past 65
Western Australia's first woman magistrate has been sacked after revelations she'sworked three years past the mandatory retirement age of 65.
DEBORAH BENNETT-BORLASE, who was appointed a magistrate in 1987, is 68.
Attorney-General JIM MCGINTY says she had put her birth date on her appointment applicationform as November 14, 1940 -- but she was actually born on that day in 1933.
Mr MCGINTY says the inaccuracy came to light after Chief Magistrate STEVEN HEATH wastipped off last month.
The magistrate, known for a no-nonsense nature, was forced to resign immediately.
Mr MCGINTY says the government has received Crown Solicitor advice that decisions madeby the magistrate in the past three years would stand.
