NT: Delay bid on zoo cruelty trial rejected

A legal bid to delay the animal cruelty trial of a company controlled by millionaire
WARREN ANDERSON has failed.

The allegations centre on the treatment last year of 2000 rare and exotic animals in
Mr ANDERSON'S private zoo in the Northen territory, which were later sold.

Owners of the Tipperary Wildlife Sanctuary have been accused of failing to provide
sufficient food to and failing to prevent the neglect of the animals.

Lawyers for the owners today applied to delay the Darwin Magistrates Court hearing
into the allegations, set down for April, until September.

However Magistrate JOHN LOWNDES rejected the application.

The trial will proceed, as scheduled, in April.
