PBA CREATES `Q-SCHOOL' BY PETE DOUGHERTY.(SPORTS)

``Qualifying school'' has had an almost-fearful connotation for years in pro golf. Now the term will become part of bowling's vocabulary.

The Professional Bowlers Association last week announced that its initial ``PBA Tour Trials'' will take place June 1-6 at Stardust Bowl II in Merrillville, Ind.

Those who don't earn one of the 50 exempt spots to be on next season's all-exempt tour can compete for the eight additional spots in the 45-game competition.

``This event is going to be filled with a lot of nerves and emotions,'' said PBA commissioner Fred Schreyer, offering words often heard prior to golf's Q-school. ``PBA Tour Trials will become the …
