Fed: Drought makes rural wage rise unaffordable: NFF
CANBERRA, Feb 26 AAP - Drought had made the ACTU's proposed wage rise for the low-paidunaffordable, the National Farmers' Federation (NFF) said today.
The ACTU claim was unreasonable for farmers whose income would be halved this yearand unfair for unemployed people in rural areas who would be priced out of jobs, NFF industrialchairman Duncan Fraser said.
This year's wage case, to decide on a payrise for 1.7 million low-paid workers, isdue to be heard by the Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC) in April.
